Minnesota had caught up with a 0-2 away draw when the Swedes silenced the American Airlines Center with just seconds left.

Brodin fired a shot from the back area and behind the cashier Eriksson Ek snapped up a loose puck, rounded the cash and pressed 3-2 at the front post.

- I saw that the goalie (Ben Bishop) was at the far post so I tried to get around as fast as it went, he tells nhl.com.

- These were important points for us and a step in the right direction. We must continue to win matches.

Do their best season

The goal was Eriksson Ek's second in the match and his sixth for the season. Värmlander is in the middle of his scoring best season in his career with 23 points (6 + 17) in 47 games.

His previous record was 16 points (6 + 10) in 75 matches in the 2017/2018 season.

- Joel has grown and matured as a player. Last season he got a lot more responsibility during the second half of the season, and it has continued this season. He not only accepts it but he likes it, says Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau.
