Swedish giant talent Alexander Isak has had his international breakthrough this season.
Markus Johannesson explains why:
• Confidence - Major clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham were looking for Willian José, and it was in his absence that Isaac suddenly became number one. When he then managed that trust and started scoring goals directly, his confidence grew like a thousand.
• Sociedad's way of playing - They play very straight and get through the opponents' midfield quickly. Isaac does not meet a single defense so often, but there is a lot of counter-attacks and high tempo. He gets big surfaces to play on and it suits him very well. He is at his best when he comes straight with the ball and is challenged. He is not as strong in the wrong game or against overall defense.
• Martin Ödegaard - The 21-year-old Norwegian is extremely important and here Isaac has a perfect playmate. You see that there is chemistry and Ödegaard puts Isak in good positions with his fine foreplay, you should not underestimate it. Real Sociedad plays an extremely funny football and there is a little wild west all over it. It's a really good football team.
