As usual, the Olympic torch will, in a baton, move from the birthplace of the Olympic Games in the Greek city of Olympia, to the location of the current game - this year Tokyo.

This year, the torch lights up on March 12. And now Greece's Olympic Committee has announced that for the first time there will be a woman who will carry the torch the best of all. Greek Anna Korakaki, who took the gold medal in gun shooting 2016, will first carry the torch, and then pass it on to the winner of the women's marathon at the Athens 2004 Olympics: Mizuki Noguchi. This is reported by the news agency AP.

The torch will first travel in Greece for eight days, before traveling by air to Japan. There it will pass all 47 prefectures (Japan's equivalent to the county) for 121 days, before finally being used to light the Olympic fire at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium on July 24.
