His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee, stressed the importance of applying mechanisms of joint work with various bodies and bodies at the state level, with the aim of upgrading the name of the Emirates in various international sporting forums, in order to translate the directions and vision of rational leadership to harness all means of success and excellence In front of Emirati athletes. His Highness pointed out the necessity of adopting creative ideas in promoting the Olympic activity, in line with the approach and trends of the Emirates, creating new horizons for cooperation and exchange of experiences, spreading the high values ​​of the Olympic Movement, and establishing strong partnerships with various stakeholders.

This came during a meeting of the Olympic Committee, chaired by His Highness yesterday, in the presence of Vice President Hamid Al-Qatami, the second deputy, Mohamed Al-Mahmoud, and members. During the meeting, the committee approved the appointment of Mohamed Bin Sulayem as Secretary-General of the Olympic Games, while accepting the resignation of Talal Al-Shanqeeti and Saleh Mohammed bin Ashour from the General Secretariat.

The Council also adopted the minutes of the first meeting of the Council, the Olympic Report for 2018-2019, the final account for the previous period, and the estimated budget for the previous years, in addition to adopting the program of external contributions and benefits for the years 2020-2021, headed by the «Tokyo Olympics» next summer, and the seventh international session For Asian children in Mongolia next August, and the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, in addition to the third Gulf Games in Kuwait next April.

The attendees reviewed the preparations for the fifth edition of the National Sports Day, and the launch of the sporting event held annually with wide community participation from various institutions, bodies, departments, representatives of the private sector and all age groups, to be held on the fifth of next March.

The Council congratulated His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, on the occasion of the Abu Dhabi Declaration, the leading destination for sports tourism in 2019, after hosting a group of the most important international sporting events, and congratulated the Supreme Committee organizing the World Games for the Special Olympics Abu Dhabi 2019, after its victory The "Shayu" Award for the Promotion of Human Rights in the Gulf Countries for 2019.
