Ulf Samuelsson is ready as new coach for Leksand IF. The message that he is replacing Roger Melin came on Monday. According to expert Jonas Andersson, it is above all special teams that did not work under Melin.

- Powerplay and boxplay have not worked. There have been regular matches as well, so it's not as if Leksand has played each game, but the game has not worked very well tactically, says Andersson.

Not up to the level

He also believes that it is not just Melin that the season has gone slow and that it is not possible to say that the coach failed in the club.

- Seen over time, it's still a success for Melin because he took Leksand back to SHL. But this season it has been a failure for him, but above all, not many of the players have come up to the level that I thought they would have.

Leksand is last in the table and has seven points to get over the qualifying line. Whether Samuelsson manages to lift the team to the right side remains to be seen.

- A coach change can do a lot. I don't usually like to change coach, but in Leksand's case I think it was necessary, says Andersson.

"He is the exact opposite"

According to Andersson, Samuelsson is a coach who comes from North America with a lot of structure, clear roles and a strict and aggressive coaching.

- He is the exact opposite of Melin, so it will be a different type of coaching and leadership. What they can do now is change a little game mode and match different hard on different players, says Andersson.

Should Leksand not reach the safe ground before the basic series is completed, they still have a chance to qualify.

- I think Leksand will remain next season, however they may be forced to qualify, but I think Leksand will remain in SHL next year, says Jonas Andersson.
