It was in a sequence during the first period that Djurgården's Jacob Josefson fell forward in a close match with Ersson, whereupon his skate flew up and hit the Brynä player in the face. 22-year-old Ersson got himself straight to the face, and fell to the ice and was then bleeding from it.

The day after the match, Brynäs announces that the slopes have damaged the eye and should be operated on.

"Marcus was found to have an eye injury, and later on Saturday night he was transported to the Academic Hospital in Uppsala to be examined by specialist doctors and he will be operated on for the eye injury on Sunday," Brynäs writes on his website.

In addition, the club will not comment on Ersson's injury.
