The dress had the margins with it and won with 0.16 ahead of Aleksander Åmodt Source and 0.17 before Johan Clarey. The victory was celebrated extensively in the 1936 Olympic Games, when it was the first time a German was at all on a downpour in Garmisch since Markus Wasmeier's victory in 1992. The following year, Dressen was born.

- It's a brutally long time. For me, it is a dream come true, to win in Garmisch is really a cool thing for us Germans, says Dressen according to AP.

Last Saturday, Dressen was first in 26th place in the classic Kitzbühel. He learned lessons from the misses in Austria.

Be angry after the misses in Kitzbühel

- After Kitzbühel, I was really angry. I took far too great risks and tried to produce a good result. In this race, I wanted to feel more relaxed and have fun and just enjoy, says Dressen.

The World Cup leader in the downhill race, Beat Feuz, who has been on the podium in 17 of the last 19 races, finished first in sixth place.

The only Swede to start, Alexander Köll, was close to taking the World Cup but finished in 32nd place. He was less than two seconds after the dress.
