  • Voices were raised against the price of places for the derby between Stade Rennais and FC Nantes on Friday. Some people consider the rates excessive.
  • The club defends itself and ensures that it is in the middle of the rates charged, while offering low-cost subscriptions.
  • The reception of FC Nantes is considered a gala match, like matches against Lyon or OM.

A derby remains a derby and Roazhon Park should therefore be sold out for the reception of FC Nantes by Stade Rennais (this Friday at 8.45 pm). Scheduled late, this match between two enemy clubs taking first place in Ligue 1 (3rd and 6th) necessarily attracts a wider audience than the reception of Amiens on a Tuesday evening in the Coupe de France. The Breton club knows this well and has therefore applied its gala pricing policy for the return of Christian Gourcuff to Roazhon Park.

In the stands, the cheapest seats displayed at 27 euros left in a few minutes, leaving only a call price of 43 euros for the less fast. A little less than for the reception of Arsenal last year in the Europa League. On social networks, some have expressed their anger, here are the most polite extracts: "25 years that I have never missed a derby but this is too much, you mess up completely with your prices". “I just called Crédit Mutuel. They refuse me the 5-year loan to buy my place. It will be without me. ” "Roazhon Park des Princes".

OK the price of seats for the derby is outrageous. Now if you have to go through it to keep the abs at prices among the least expensive of L1 clearly it doesn't bother me ... Same principle as for EL or the subscriber packs were at affordable prices! #SRFCFCN

Contacted, the Rennes club defends itself. “We are not an expensive club. We have one of the cheapest Ligue 1 subscriptions, check it out. ” What we have done. This season, the subscription is offered at 169 euros behind the goals (count 500 euros to be on the edge of the field sideways). A rate in slight progression since it was 149 euros in 2017 and 155 euros in 2018. Should we see an inflation linked to the good results of the club? Not impossible. But it remains moderate. At this price, Stade Rennais ranks well among the less expensive clubs in Ligue 1, far, very far from the prices of PSG (490 euros) or OM (385 euros).

"Football must remain accessible, popular"

With this pricing policy, the club has chosen to favor the "faithful" over the "occasional". An assumed choice that divides the supporters. "I have the impression that it is a cover for the club", estimates Yohann, subscribed for two years but faithful supporter of red and black since his childhood. “I am calling for a rebalancing. I'm willing to pay a little more if it can drive prices down. Football must remain accessible, popular. There, it's absurd! "Says the young man. Calculator by hand, the SRFC management argues. “Last season, the average price for our match ticket was 24.40 euros. The championship average is 29.20 euros. Our idea is to reward the regulars but also to welcome everyone ”.

Dear @staderennais,
We will be clear:
The prices for the derby are purely SCANDALOUS,
The price of jerseys at 100 € is also anything. Continue these marketing aberrations and you will quickly taste the banners, disputes, songs, strikes from your supporters. # SRFCFCN

The reaction of some internet users may be due to simple reasoning, which may not please the Canaries. In their eyes, the reception of FC Nantes is not considered a "gala" match, unlike the matches against Lyon or OM, offered at the same price. But a derby remains a derby.
