Maisa Kivimäki from Finland, Hanle van der Merwe from South Africa and Nino Kurtanidze from Georgia all missed the chance to run the second race when the grand slalom was decided in Lausanne yesterday.

The gondola that would take the three riders to the starting position stopped working and after two hours of waiting the message came from the competition management that they would not be allowed to start.

Kivimäki was best placed after the first race with a 39th place. The gondola, with the three riders in, could eventually be brought back to the bottom safely.

- It was very unfortunate. No one knew how long it would take when the problem occurred.

Amelie Klopfenstein from Switzerland won, best Swedish was Hanna Aronsson Elfman, who finished in seventh place.
