Brady, who trained with Barty, has gone the long way with three matches in qualifying before beating Maria Sharapova on Tuesday in the first round of the small tournament with 32 participants. The Australian Open will have 128 participants. Barty got to rest in the first round and showed clear signs of missing the timing.

"Sure, you can call it rustiness or I didn't do what I would," says Barty, who last played in the Fed Cup final in early November, also that at home in Australia.

Brady mentally strong

She got the worst start in the 2020 tennis year.

Brady noticed that she was hanging out well here they trained and benefited from it mentally.

- Instead of just fighting, I decided to win: I believed in myself and it gave me confidence that I'm a player who can control and set, says Brady, who now has two impressive wins in a row under his belt.

In the next round, the quarterfinals, another big match awaits when Petra Kvitova, who was in the final at last year's Australian Open, faces the opposition.
