Roger Federer, Raphael Nadal and Serena Williams are playing with a number of other players in a demonstration match before the start of the Australian Open this month, to raise funds to support relief efforts to tackle the country's wildfires.

The fire devoured more than ten million and three hundred thousand hectares (25.5 million acres), which is the size of South Korea, killing 26 people and destroying more than a thousand homes.

The outcome of the match - which will take two and a half hours, and will be held on the 15th of this year at "Road Lever" under the name "Australian Open Relief Campaign" - will be donated entirely to the relief efforts.

The ticket will cost 54 Australian dollars (37 US dollars).

"The unexpected forest fires have affected people, property, animals and livestock across the country, all of our hearts with those affected," said Craig Tayley, CEO of the Australian Tennis Federation and CEO of the Australian Open.

He continued - in a statement - "The response of the tennis sport exceeded all expectations ... and the most prominent players in the world, who obtained many of the big four tournaments, announced their participation in the match and the campaign of donations."

This match comes within the framework of another program in which the Australian Federation donates a hundred Australian dollars for each aces in the Professional Cup for men's teams that are held in the cities of Brisbane, Perth and Sydney.

A number of players also launched individual donation initiatives, as French Open champion Ashley Party announced the donation of her prize money at the Brisbane International Fire Victims Championship.

Australian Nick Kerryos has promised to donate A $ 200 for each overwhelming send this month.

The Australian Open will start on 20 this month.
