The adventure ended as quickly as brutally for the Alsatian pilot Romain Dumas and his co-pilot Alex Winocq. After sixty-five kilometers of racing in the first special stage in Saudi Arabia, his car caught fire. “My co-pilot Alex Winocq and I are OK. We did not have time to intervene on the car. We will be repatriated to the bivouac ”, explains the pilot on social networks.

With his team, the pilot from Alès entirely built his DDX buggy from the RD Limited team with the mechanical pole of Alès.

Double winner of the 24 hours of Le Mans

Since his arrival on the race, he had had to face major problems, notably electronic, revealed during informal driving. "We had to change a lot of things before we started," he said.

"We just had time to stop and jump out of the car." # Dakar2020 is already over for @RomainDumas as his car caught fire 65km into the special 😥
