Already 53 seconds into the match, Nolan Foote went on a match penalty after a tackle that badly hurt Kristian Kovacik. But despite a five-minute powerplay, Slovakia never came close, and instead Barrett Hayton was able to put 1-0 to Canada just under a minute after Canada became complete.

But Slovakia still stayed at a reasonable distance the period, and was only down by 0-1 at the break. In the second period, however, Canada would inject targets. It was four goals in ten minutes for Canada, which with a 5-0 lead already secured a ticket to the semi-finals after half the match.

Canada had to extend the lead to 6-0 directly in the third period before Slovakia allowed the big supporter to cheer when Oliver Okuliar in a turnaround shot an inexcusable shot at the cross.

But closer than that, the Slovakians did not come, but Canada won by 6-1 and is ready for the semi-finals.
