He noted that he was still full of strength and energy, but not so fast in the ring, so he wanted to find another occupation for himself.
“I am ready to benefit the country in something else. I probably needed a fight with Tabiso Mchun in order to understand what was enough, it was time to finish. I already felt unwell at self-training, not everything worked out, ”the Russian added.
In July 2019, Lebedev had already announced his retirement, but after that he returned to the sport and had a duel with Mchunu. The Russian lost to the South African by unanimous decision.
Earlier, Nikolai Valuev suggested that Lebedev was returning to the ring for financial reasons.
