The organization said that the captain of the youth team Barrett Hayton did not take off his helmet during the performance of the Russian anthem after the group stage match.
“The Canadian Hockey Federation apologizes to the International Hockey Federation, the Russian Hockey Federation and all Canadians for this incident,” the statement said.
Hayton previously apologized for the incident with the Russian anthem.
