Fredrik Ljungberg made six matches as head coach. Arsenal have now chosen to move on with former Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta. Ljungberg has previously expressed a desire to remain in the club and after a few days of speculation Arteta now states that this will be the case.

- We talked and came to a decision that the best thing for him was to stay with us. He knows the players, he knows the situation, he knows the story, where we come from and his knowledge of the game will help us get better, Arteta said during today's press conference.

"He's ready to help"

Mikel Arteta spent five years as a player in the red and white shirt and says he had positive discussions with his representative after Saturday's match against Everton.

- I talked to him about my idea and the people I want to bring in to build my coaching team, their roles and areas of responsibility. I wanted to know what he (Ljungberg) was thinking and what his expectations were. I got a really good impression of him. He is ready to help. He was very positive.
