Arizona's back cut Oliver Ekman-Larsson was noted for three assists when Arizona defeated Detroit 5-2, making the Swede now up to twelve for the season. Ekman-Larsson was involved in the first two goals of the match, both of which were scored by Clayton Keller, and were noted for assists in both cases. It could have been an own goal too, but the draw in the third period was guided by Christian Dvorak and instead became a third assist for the 28-year-old.

The Swede has not been as productive so far during the season as Arizona has been spoiled with in recent years. But recently it has gained momentum, with goals in two straight games before the Detroit meet.

At the start of the second period, Carl Söderberg struck with his eleventh goal of the season when he intercepted a pass that the Detroit goalkeeper failed to grasp. He has also been noted for points in three games in a row.

Detroit is marginally last in the league, with only nine wins in the 38 games played so far.

Arizona is better off, which is stably placed on the top half of the table.
