Isaac: "You shouldn't let idiots get what they want"

It was in connection with the European qualifying match away to Romania last month that Alexander Isak was attacked by the crowd, both verbally and physically - partly by throwing a golf ball at him.

The Romanian Football Association was reported to Uefa, but this week it was announced that their ethics committee chose to release them from the suspicions of racism.

But now the Swedish football association appeals against Uefa's verdict.

- We think the decision is wrong. At a time when almost every week new racist expressions in football are coming, UEFA's disciplinary committee makes such a decision. It sends completely wrong signals. I was genuinely surprised and pissed when I was told that there will be no punishment at all. That is why it is important for us to appeal, says the union's secretary general Håkan Sjöstrand in a statement on the union's website.

"Want to know how to reason"

Sjöstrand says that SVFF has not received any information from Uefa at all.

- The only thing we can go on is what the Romanian federation and various media have written about the reason for the decision. We want to know how to reason and will therefore request to have the decision explained by the disciplinary committee, but also appeal the decision to the UEFA Board of Appeal, says Sjöstrand.

- As I see, there are only two reasons for giving a liberating result. One is that you do not believe in our players, the other is that you do not think that what happened was serious enough. I honestly do not know what I think is the worst.
