Daniel Ståhl has received another receipt for what a fantastic season he had in 2019.

The Swedish discus thrower, who won the World Cup gold in Qatar at the end of September and accounted for 14 (!) Of the world's 15 longest throws this year, has placed third in the US trade magazine Track & Field News considered top ten list over the world's top athletes on the men's side.

Fourth Swedish on the list

This is the fourth time a Swedish has ever reached such a high ranking in the annual compilation, ladies and gentlemen included. Carolina Klüft (2003), Stefan Holm (2004) and Kajsa Bergqvist (2005) have also been third in the past.

-Really fun to place so high in battle with the world's best athletes, says Daniel Ståhl in a statement to the Swedish Athletics Association, adding:

-I understand that I am the fourth Swedish to reach third place on the list after Carolina, Stefan and Kajsa. Really great to be part of such a well-deserved company.

One of the annual compilation is also a Scandinavian: Karsten Warholm.

In addition to winning the World Cup gold and taking home the total victory in the Diamond League on 400 meters hurdles, the Norwegian ran this year at the second fastest time ever (46.92).

- A big congratulations to the winner Karsten Warholm. That we are two Scandinavians in the top three feels extra good. Karsten really deserves first place. World Cup gold, European record, Diamond League victory and close to the world record, says Ståhl.

Two on the list were US sprinter Noah Lyles.
