The men's downhill race in Val Gardena would have started at 11.45, but at 9 am the organizers announced that the rain had made them decide to cancel the race altogether.
"Fis (the International Ski Federation) will announce later when and where the downhill race will be run instead," they write in a statement.
In the Val d'Isere it was planned to hold a downhill run for the ladies. The original start time was 10.30, but it has already been postponed twice due to snowfall. The latest bid is for the competition to start at 12.30.
