According to the head of the World Athletics working group Rune Andersen, who reports to TASS, such a decision was made on the recommendation of the Council of the International Association of Athletics Federations after the publication of the independent athletics disciplinary body Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), which has charged the VFLA officials.
VFLA's membership in the International Association of Athletics Federations was suspended in November 2015, and since then the suspension has been extended 12 times.
