According to the head of the World Athletics working group, Rune Andersen, who reports to TASS, the organization’s council has instructed to review the procedure for issuing neutral status, which the council began to use since June 2016.

He noted that for the period of review of the procedure, all applications received and the acceptance of new ones will be suspended.

VFLA's membership in the International Association of Athletics Federations was suspended in November 2015, and since then the suspension has been extended 12 times.
