After a first period where there were two goalkeepers who dominated, the outside players finally got holes in the goalkeepers in the second. And it was the home team that got the cheer first when Juho Lammikko was already 1-0 down after almost three minutes after showing strength in front of goal and taking advantage of a return from Ville Pokka.

Finland then pushed for an extension, but the Czech Republic opposed and would instead succeed in acknowledging before the period was over through Jakub Jerabek.

Finland also started the third period with a fast goal, this time already after 40 seconds through Sakari Manninen. For a long time it looked like the goal was going to be a decisive match, but with only 69 seconds left of the third period, Tomas Filippi silenced the crowd with a 2-2 goal that sent the match to extension.

After a scoreless extension, the match was then decided with a penalty decision where Jakub Krejcik became the only scorer of nine penalties.
