LONDON (Reuters) - Cristiano Ronaldo is keen to console Everton's Andre Gomez after suffering a serious injury during Sunday's Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur.

"We will pray for a quick recovery, sure that Gomez will be back stronger," Ronaldo wrote to his team-mate through the Story feature on his Instagram official account.

On the other hand, British reports said that Tottenham stabbed against the red card received by his player Sun Hyung-Min after he caused Gomez horrific fracture of the ankle.

Gomez broke and dislocated his right ankle during the second half of the 1-1 draw at Goodison Park, lost his balance after Sun's intervention and then collided with Tottenham's right-back Serge Aurier.

The Portuguese international underwent surgery on Monday, after which Everton said he expected Gomez to recover fully.

Referee Martin Atkinson made the red card for Sun after a mistake against Gomez. The Premier League said after the match that the South Korean had been sent off "for endangering the safety of a player."

The BBC and the Guardian newspaper said Tottenham had challenged the FA and demanded the red card be canceled.

If the appeal is not accepted, Sun - whose tears fell in the dressing room after the clash - will be out in the next three league games against Sheffield United, West Ham and Bournemouth.
