Benfica opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a goal from Rafa Silva and OL tied in the 70th thanks to Memphis Depay. But a blunder of Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes allowed the Portuguese to win at home 2-1.

The Lyonnais had arrived in Portugal to end a long desert crossing that began more than two months ago. Except for a win over Leipzig (2-0) on October 2, OL have not won a match since the lesson inflicted on Angers (6-0) in the league on August 16. And after a draw last weekend against Dijon (0-0), the team points to the seventeenth place in Ligue 1.

Lyonnais non-existent in the first period

In Portugal, it was absolutely necessary to reverse this trend, which cost Brazilian coach Sylvinho his place. Except that once again, the Lyonnais started very badly by conceding a goal from the beginning. In the fourth minute, Benfica concretizes on its first favorable situation. Rafa Silva, well served by Franco Cervi, marks grace of a cross shot of the right.

The four points taken by Sylvinho during the first two days of C1 placed the Lyonnais in good situation before this trip to Lisbon. And a success in Portugal would have allowed Lyon to blow in the Champions League after three days, and to smile again before returning to the daily Ligue 1.

With the third goal of Memphis Depay in the Champions League this season, the Gones could at least go home with a draw (70th). Except that goalkeeper Anthony Lopes Lyon is trapped by raising a ball in the hand. At about twenty meters, Pizzi takes the ball from the right foot and scores for the deserted goal (86th). However, Lyon had largely dominated the second period.
