The representative of Kenya finished the race, which was held as part of the Ineos 1:59 Challenge project, in 1 hour 59 minutes 40.2 seconds. The distance was 42.2 km.

It is noted that the marathon is not included in the program of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), and for this reason, the achievement of Kipchoge is not an official new world record.

Kipchog also holds the world record - 2 hours 1 minute 39 seconds at the Berlin marathon.

Earlier, the head of the VFLA appreciated the performance of the Russians at the World Championships in athletics.
