Eliud Kipchoge became the first man to pass under the mythical bar of two hours in the marathon, Saturday in Vienna, during an unofficial race designed in every detail to allow the feat.
Well supported by an army of "hares", the 34-year-old Kenyan Olympic champion completed his course in 1 h 59 min 40 sec, almost two minutes less than his world record (2 h 01 min 39 sec) established in conditions approved in Berlin last year.
