The reason that the Swedish Ice Hockey Association stated to cancel the tournament in Luleå was that the opponent nations - Finland, USA and Canada - had to be given time to plan their trips.

That explanation does not buy the Mustonen, who instead believes that the Swedish union saw a chance to save money.

But it is now decided by the Swedish ice hockey association's general secretary Tommy Boustedt.

- Three weeks ago, the US and Canada wanted to know if the tournament would get rid of, because it is a pretty big deal to book 40 people from the US and Canada to Luleå, and they knew we were in a negotiation process. Then we asked if we could get a week's respite to be able to ask Sico (the players' union) if the players could think of playing even if we did not finish the negotiation, Boustedt explains to SVT Sport, and continues:

- But we got the answer that they couldn't say they would be available. And because the US and Canada wanted answers, we had to announce that they could not guarantee that they would play. So then we had to set it. And we think this is a big loss for Swedish women's hockey, as the USA, Canada and Finland are the three best countries and it would have been a huge opportunity for the Women's crown to play against the best.

So you can totally deny that you canceled the tournament to play the money?

- So, we have not persuaded, but really sold this tournament to the US and Canada. It's a big deal to get the US and Canada into a tournament. So it's very boring. So if we worked hard six months ago to get them, then we did not want to cancel the tournament now.

- And we actually asked the ladies if they could play even if we did not agree on a new agreement. But they did not want to promise.

"Nothing positive"

However, Boustedt has an understanding of whether other national federations lose confidence in Sweden after being forced to cancel two tournaments in a short time.

- It is nothing positive that this has happened, and there is no image that we have in any way tried to create. So this is obviously nothing good, he says, but adds that it could have been worse:

- Had we not canceled the tournament now, but had to cancel just a few days in advance - it could have been the worst thing that could have happened. That's what happened in the last tournament.
