The Swiss nightmare of Krasnodar

From the moment that Krasnodar very painfully flew out of the Champions League and went to the group stage of the Europa League, a lot of time has passed. The bitterness of defeat from Olympiakos was supposed to disappear, all the more so since Murad Musayev’s wards are doing fine in the Russian championship, and after defeating Wings of the Soviets with a score of 4: 2, they remain in the triumvirate of leaders.

However, in a lesser status European Cup, Krasnodar had even harder. The Russian club already got the get-together “Getafe” and “Trabzonspor” in the group stage, but Basel turned out to be a real nightmare for the team. A meeting with him in Switzerland turned out to be the largest defeat for the southerners in the European arena.

From the very beginning of the match, the Krasnodar players clung to their gates and did not demonstrate reliability in defense. “Basel”, which also began the European campaign with the qualifications of the Champions League, did everything in the penalty box for guests to their liking. Goalkeeper Matvey Safonov could only rely on his own strength, but he quickly gave up after the mistake of Alexander Martynovich, after which Kevin Bois picked up the ball and sent it into the net at speed.

By the middle of the first half, the game had leveled off, “Krasnodar” answered with solid, but inaccurate blows of Ruslan Kambolov and Magomed-Shapi Suleymanov. However, playing in a strange half of the field did not lead to anything good. At the 40th minute, the guests lost the ball, and Valentin Stocker brought Bois to another shock position, with which the Swiss midfielder scored twice.

The second half, in which Dmitry Utkin immediately left instead of Kambolov, did not become a turning point. For the mistake of Suleymanov, who struck too simply when leaving one on one, the players of Basel were punished in double size. First, Luca Zuffrey picked up the ball at the penalty box and shot without a chance for Safonov, and then Arthur Cabral made the goalkeeper run after him and shot along the goal, from where Tonni de Villena suddenly shot on his own goal. By the 54th minute, Krasnodar was already losing with a score of 0: 4.

That was not all. The absence of any discipline in the defense of the guests remained until the end of the match. Not the most promising attack of “Basel” suddenly turned out to be a goal after a rebound from Younes Namli, to which Noah Okafor reacted. “Krasnodar” conceded the fifth goal, and there was still time for the sixth and seventh - first, Okafora's excellent backache was without an address, and then the judge decided not to punish the Russians for breaking the rules in his own penalty area. Musaev’s wards not only lost with the score 0: 5, but also lost in the last three matches in European competition with a score of 1:11. Correct the situation, “Krasnodar” will try in the next home game with “Getafe”.

Black time Akinfeev

CSKA was the last of the Russian clubs to enter the European Cup competition. CSKA made their way directly into the group stage of the Europa League and only now got a chance to measure strength with foreign teams. The lot determined Viktor Goncharenko's wards to start the European campaign with the Bulgarian Ludogorets, who this season lost only to Ferencvaros in the Champions League qualification.

Muscovites before leaving had to face serious problems with the roster. Cedric Gogua and Zvonimir Charliya also got on the already long list of injured. The defense holes were so big that Goncharenko had to let out 17-year-old Vadim Karpov in the center of defense, and at the same time hold Fedor Chalov and Ilzat Akhmetov, setting up wards for defensive football.

Such a bleak situation at first was CSKA even on hand. At the same time, Igor Diveev came out in the starting lineup, and the young defender not only helped withstand the starting pressure of the home team, but also closed the canopy of Nikola Vlasic from the penalty area in the 11th minute. For him, this goal was the first after leaving Ufa.

The players of Ludogorets immediately pulled themselves together and began to recoup, but did not take into account the factor of Igor Akinfeev. The goalkeeper of CSKA several times saved his goal at the moments of the most attacking activity of the home team. Until the end of the first half, the score remained in favor of the army team, who did not create anything else in the attack.

However, immediately after the break, the Bulgarians, who were played by five natives of Brazil, achieved their goal. After hitting Sisinho, the ball rolled back to Crystaldo Wanderson, who struck Akinfeev on the wet lawn at hand. Immediately Yodi Lukoki caught the army center of defense on a misunderstanding and circled the former goalkeeper of the Russian team. But it was not enough just to go ahead to the hosts - Claudiu Cesheru also shot through an intricate arc and sent the ball into the net. In just five minutes, the score from 1: 0 in favor of CSKA turned into 1: 3.

Goncharenko had no choice but to release Chalov and Akhmetov in the hope of at least equalizing the score. But their first timid attempts to influence the situation only allowed the Bulgarian club to find new ways to attack Akinfeev’s gate. No one covered Kesheru took a double, and soon the Russian goalkeeper fouled on Marcelinho, while the rest of the team was looking for luck in the attack. The judge awarded a penalty, which brought a hat-trick to the Romanian striker.

CSKA after “Krasnodar” conceded five goals from an opponent, who also significantly surpassed the names of the players. Both Russian clubs will come to their senses in the full-time match, which, in certain circumstances, can determine the sole leader of the RPL.
