In the Sailing World Cup in Enoshima, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, a pair of 470 men's Yuki Okada and Junpei Gaien was ranked 11th and was selected to represent Japan for the next year's Tokyo Olympics.

For this event, the Japan Sailing Federation decided to offer the top pair to the Olympic team in a ranking that combines the results of the three tournaments including this tournament.

The goal is sailing and the first gold medal in the Olympics

Yuki Okada and Junpei Gaien made a pair from Ototoshi and gained attention in the last 6th place in the world championship, which was played in just one year since its formation.

Last year, the World Cup held in Enoshima for the Tokyo Olympics test competition was the first gold medal in Japanese men's history.

A 23-year-old from Fukuoka Prefecture, Okada sits down and acts as a “skipper” who handles the sail while steering, and a 28-year-old Gaien from Kagoshima Prefecture rides in front of a yacht and manipulates other sails.

The goal of the Tokyo Olympics is to acquire the first gold medal for men and women in sailing.
