CAIRO (Reuters) - Tunisia's Esperance won the African Champions League title after weeks of controversy over unprecedented events in the final, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Wednesday.

Morocco's Wydad were seen as a loser and fined $ 20,000 for leaving the pitch and another $ 15,000 for their supporters using firecrackers and fireworks.

The federation also imposed financial sanctions on Esperance and fined it $ 50,000 for its supporters' use of fireworks.

The federation also imposed a suspended penalty by denying Esperance from their fans in the next two matches at home in African competitions for the use of fireworks by supporters.

Team leader Mohamed Medbab demanded a $ 20,000 fine for "non-sporting behavior" against the federation's president, Ahmed Ahmed.
