In December, Carl Frampton lost his IBF World Cup belt in featherweight to Englishman Josh Warrington. Now he is looking to win back "his" title and as a first step there it was thought that on Saturday he would make a comeback against Mexican Emmanuel Dominguez at a gala in Philadelphia, USA.

But fate wanted differently.

Just days before the match, the 32-year-old star sat in the hotel lobby in the US when an ornament was overturned and fell in his direction. The ornament destroyed the table in front of Frampton, and also resulted in a broken leg in his hand. He is now expected to be gone for about six weeks.

- I am extremely disappointed both for my own sake and for all the fans who have come here for the match. This is beyond my control, but I still want to apologize to my opponents and all supporters, Frampton tells the BBC.

Slipped in the shower

Economically, it is also a blow for the Northern Irishman who spent about SEK 350,000 at the training camp completely unnecessarily.

It is also not the first time that the accident has occurred for Frampton. Two years ago, he got a face-off against Andres Gutierrez after his opponent slipped in the shower.
