Antoine Roussel, the Frenchman playing for the Vancouver Canucks, lost a lead in the North American championship and bit one of his opponents. He was fined $ 5,000.

French international Vancouver Antoine Roussel, deemed a big brawler, was fined $ 5,000 (4,400 euros) for biting an opponent in a fight during the night from Friday to Saturday, during the match of NHL between Canucks and San Jose Sharks.

Roussel was involved in a fight late in the game for which he received three penalties, including one of ten minutes for bad behavior. Vlasic had revealed at the end of the meeting won 4-0 by San Jose that Roussel had bitten his right hand while the referees were trying to separate them.

Roussel finished the game with 18 penalty minutes bringing his season total to 65 minutes, making him the second most penalized NHL player behind Boston winger Brad Marchand (66 minutes).

Roussel, who is winger, joined Vancouver last summer after five and a half seasons in Dallas. He has scored three goals and five assists since his debut in the Canucks, who dropped to 11th in the Western Conference (22 pts).
