Modric ends the reign of Messi and Ronaldo

Luka Modric ended a decade of undivided reign of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Croat, finalist of the World Cup in Russia, won Monday the 2018 Golden Ball, ahead of the French world champions, including Antoine Griezmann on the podium.

Historic first for Hegerberg

23-year-old Norwegian Ada Hegerberg, who plays attacking Lyon, won the first women's Golden Ball. She has won three league championships with Lyon, and has already been awarded the title of player of the season in 2016 by UEFA. She was elected by vote of journalists, such as the Men's Golden Ball.

Mbapped still higher

Kylian Mbappé, already compared to 19-year-old legend Pelé, received the new Kopa trophy, nominating the best player under 21 in 2018. The PSG striker, world champion with the Blues, was named at the end the vote of the 33 winners of the Ballon d'Or, including Franz Beckenbauer, Michel Platini, Jean-Pierre Papin, Marco Van Basten, and Zinédine Zidane. Mbappé had four goals in the World Cup-2018 this summer, including a final.

Sabri Lamouchi is no more

Stade Rennais coach Sabri Lamouchi was fired on Monday (December 3rd), the day after the new Red and Black defeat in the league against Strasbourg. Julien Stéphan, reserve team coach, will take care of the professional team.
