After a month-long defeat in Naples and a draw against Manchester City, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah took a leading role in the Reds' three-game winning streak to win the title of best player in October.

Liverpool scored the winning goal against Huddersfield Town in the league before taking part in two consecutive Champions League matches against Red Star Belgrade, with Liverpool scoring 65 matches.

The English Premier League player of the year scored one goal and made two goals at Cardiff City at Anfield, where the Reds kept their unbeaten record so far in the league.

The official website confirmed that Salah's team was enough to garner most of the fans' votes through Liverpool's official website, ahead of second-placed Sheridan Shakiri and followed by Giorgione Venaldum.

"I was really happy with the results of the team first and my goals second, scoring a goal to help the team is always something I would love to try and do, and we have started the season very well," said Salah after receiving the award at Milwood. "All players have great levels, so we have to keep going."

Three of Salah's four goals came at Anfield during the month, including his 50th goal with Liverpool.

It was an important achievement for the Egyptian international player faster than any other player in the history of Liverpool, beating former number holder Albert Stubbs, who scored the same number of goals in 77 games.

"Playing and scoring at Anfield always has a good feeling for me, and how many goals I have scored at home is fantastic and I enjoy playing in this stadium a lot," Salah said.

"I'm looking forward to reaching my 100th goal with Liverpool, but there are a lot of goals before that, first to try to win a title for the club and to continue winning the games, and these things are more important than 100 goals," he said.
