The TF1 group will broadcast in February 2019 the next Super Bowl, the final of the NFL football championship that was broadcast so far by the M6 group, announced TF1 Thursday in a statement.
The 53rd Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 3rd, 2019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The final was broadcast on W9 (M6 group) since 2010.
"This agreement is a first for the TF1 Group and is part of its ambitious policy of broadcasting international events , " the group said.
This event brings together more than one hundred million viewers each year in the United States, with audiences declining in recent years.
The Superbowl also offers a sponsored music show at half-time, where Prince, the Rolling Stones or Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake have recently performed. This year, the Maroon 5 group is expected to come on stage, according to the American magazine Variety.
The Philadelphia Eagles had a feat last year beating the New England Patriots New England, arch-favorites.
