FC Bayern attack averted: Borussia Dortmund remains on the 18th Bundesliga match day leaders with six points ahead. The club won his away game at RB Leipzig 1: 0 (1: 0), Axel Witsel was the winner (19. Minute).

On Friday evening, the second-placed from Munich BVB with a 2-1 victory against Hoffenheim put under pressure. Dortmund reacted with three points in a contested game. The club had to go with a setback in the game: Marco Reus dropped out. The captain was in the field in all 17 games in the first half of the season and is with eleven goals and seven assists so far one of the winners this season.

But other players also dominated the Hinserie of the championship leader, including Witsel, and it was the Belgian who brought BVB into the lead. After a corner and a header extension by Lukasz Piszczek, Witsel scored with a hard shot, the ball flew from the bottom of the bar into the goal.

RB loses the connection

After the 1: 0 drew the BVB back a bit and Leipzig came to more offensive scenes - it was a fast-paced encounter, which was spectacular, especially in the second half. RB professional Marcel Sabitzer scored for the opener with a post from close range (47.), later the Austrian failed due to a strong foot defense by BVB goalkeeper Roman Bürki (74). Great excitement also arose in the 63rd minute, when Bürki had initiated a great chance of Timo Werner with a bad ball acceptance - without consequences. Dortmund put in the second half on counterattack, the substitute Paco Alcácer awarded the most dangerous scene just before the final whistle.

Thus, BVB has won its first of several tough away games in the series. The club will play in the second half of the season still in the strong home team from Frankfurt (20th matchday), Munich (28) and Gladbach (34). Leipzig loses the connection to the top teams, currently RB is fourth 14 points behind the BVB.
