The flagship CAC 40 index lost 9.01 points to finish at 7,213.14 points. Over the week, it fell by 0.79%, a development mainly due to Monday's session. This is its sixth decline in the last seven weeks.

But the Parisian rating essentially stagnated the rest of the week, lacking economic indicators and landmark decisions to take frank positions.

"It suffered a little from the rate hikes of the Reserve Bank of Australia and Canada" at the beginning of the week, said Harry Wolhandler, head of equity management at Meeschaert AM.

These decisions cast some doubt on the future choice of the US central bank to maintain its rates as it suggested at the end of its last meeting, or to finally raise them for the 11th time in a row.

If market participants give an even greater probability to a pause, "the speech at the end of the meeting" of the president of the institution Jerome Powell "will also be important", to gauge the trend for the second half of the year, recalls Mr. Wolhandler.

The Bank of France now forecasts for the year 2023 a growth of French economic activity of "at least" 0.6%, while inflation slows "really", said Friday its governor, François Villeroy de Galhau.

The emblematic president of Scor dies

Denis Kessler, emblematic president of the reinsurer Scor since 2002 and figure of the French employers, died Friday at the age of 71, announced the group in a statement. He had ceded the general management in June 2021, while keeping his chairmanship. The share jumped 6.13% to 24.93 euros.

Winning ticket for Edenred

The specialist in prepaid payment services Edenred (+0.66% to 61.34 euros) will join the CAC 40 as of June 19, announced Thursday the stock exchange operator Euronext. It replaces Vivendi which fell 2.35% to 8.14 euros, one of the worst performances of the CAC 40.

A time anticipated by analysts for the downgrade, the giant of shopping centers Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield finished up sharply by 1.85% to 46.87 euros. Over the week, the title achieved the second best performance of the CAC 40 (+4.85%).
