The Prime Minister will give the speech from his garden in Strängnäs.

Kristersson points out that almost 700,000 people have become Swedish citizens in just twelve years. Many support themselves and contribute – but there is also a great deal of exclusion," he says.

People who do not learn the language, do not understand Swedish laws and who do not want to accept basic Swedish values, according to the Prime Minister.

Critical of no requirements

The conclusion is that citizenship needs to be valued.

"Although most people probably understand that citizenship in our country should be something big, Sweden has for decades gone in the opposite direction and on the contrary eroded it," Kristersson said.

"Even criminals have easily been able to become Swedish citizens, as well as people who have lied or bribed their way to citizenship," Kristersson said.

The government wants it to take more to become a Swedish citizen. People must have lived in Sweden longer and there must be clear requirements for an honest way of life and requirements for self-support, says the Prime Minister. The requirements for Swedish and social studies will also be tightened.

Language way in

Swedish is the way into society and a glue that binds us together, Kristersson believes. Despite this, there has been no expectation that anyone who comes to Sweden will actually learn the language, he says.

-No requirement to learn Swedish to receive different grants. No requirement to learn Swedish to get a permanent residence permit and not even to become a Swedish citizen.

"This makes Sweden unique, but in a bad way," he says.

"There are ten-year-olds who do not understand the text that is in front of them at school. Such a betrayal.

He promises that the government will introduce compulsory language preschool for children who need it.

"Don't come here"

In the speech, the Prime Minister also emphasizes "common values".

"Sweden can be a tricky country to get into, with values that are quite far from many countries in Asia and Africa.

He emphasizes that in Sweden the family is important, but not above the law, that there is equality between the sexes, that you can marry whoever you want and that both girls and boys have the right to swim and play football.

-If you can't or don't want to respect that, then Sweden is probably not the country you should go to.
