Last year, about 40 people were granted citizenship in Mörbylånga municipality, on the national day about ten people were in place and were welcomed by Carina Adolfsson Elgestam (S).
– It is important that we celebrate this day in the country and we think that connecting it with welcoming new citizens is a little extra special, says Carina Adolfsson Elgestam (S).
Dreamed of moving to Sweden
Rima Liljencrantz fled from Syria to Sweden in 2016, today she lives with her husband in Färjestaden on Öland. She says it was one of her dreams to be able to live in Sweden since she was five years old. Now she was welcomed as a Swedish citizen in Mörbylånga municipality.
– We feel even more welcoming in Sweden when they present us in this way, says Rima Liljencrantz.
