"We comply with the treaty, and Russia's decision to unilaterally suspend its participation in the New START Treaty is regrettable and ill-conceived," TASS quoted Patel as saying at a briefing.

He noted that, in Washington's opinion, Moscow complies only with the quantitative restrictions of the New START Treaty, and not with its other aspects.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow was suspending its participation in the New START Treaty.

He noted that a situation in which the US military is at Russian nuclear facilities, while the United States is fomenting a further escalation of the Ukrainian conflict, is simply impossible.

After that, the US State Department said that Washington considers it "legally incorrect" for Russia to suspend its participation in the New START Treaty.
