Hefei, May 5 (Reporter Wu Lan) On May 12, the Yanqi Youth Forum for Machine Scientists with the theme of "Enlightenment, Exploration and Breakthrough" was held at the University of Science and Technology of China, and about 5 young scientists from well-known universities and research institutes at home and abroad were invited to participate in this forum.

According to reports, the forum is a high-end academic forum for young scientists initiated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with the theme of "enlightenment, exploration and breakthrough", based on the three major tasks of breakthrough in basic scientific research, promoting and advocating international cooperation, and supporting the growth of young talents, facing the national strategic needs and the world's scientific and technological frontiers, gathering outstanding young scientists to carry out discussions, encouraging contention, promoting source innovation and frontier intersection, and condensing and proposing major scientific issues in frontier research.

The forum invited Academician Aso, Academician Eweinan, Academician Fang Weihai, Academician Tang Yong, Academician Zhang Donghui, Academician Yang Jinlong and Academician Andy Cooper to attend.

Machine scientists gather multidisciplinary cutting-edge theories and technologies, such as chemistry and chemical engineering, computer, informatics, software, biomedicine, materials science, etc., which can greatly help human beings break through inherent thinking, change research paradigms, have broad application prospects in many industries, and take the lead in realizing innovative applications in some fields.

Exploring institutional research relying on major scientific and technological infrastructure is the focus of this forum's discussion, giving full play to the advantages of the new national system, concentrating on building large scientific devices based on machine scientists, forming an infrastructure for practicing "intelligence-driven scientific research", and providing a research and development platform based on a new paradigm for scientists in all fields. At the same time, encourage young talents to participate in the construction of large scientific devices, give young talents the opportunity to undertake major tasks, and rely on large scientific devices to gather and cultivate young talents.

Representatives of young scientists shared their innovative thinking, challenges and urgent problems in the field of research. Among them, Jiang Jun's team at the University of Science and Technology of China developed a full-process machine chemist driven by data intelligence, Mo Fanyang's team at Peking University developed an automated robot for thin layer chromatography (TLC) analysis, a robot scientist developed by Zhao Haitao's team at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences realized the reverse design of nanogold crystals and double perovskite nanocrystals, Leroy Cronin's team at the University of Glasgow designed and manufactured an organic synthesis robot, Andrew of the University of Liverpool, UK The Cooper team designed and built mobile machines, chemists and others.

The forum was co-sponsored by the Bureau of Frontier Science and Education of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Department of Chemical Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and co-organized by the University of Science and Technology of China and the Key Laboratory of Precision Intelligent Chemistry. Under the theme of "Machine Scientists", the discussion was organized around six topics: Machine Scientists; global artificial intelligence and scientific research; Artificial intelligence helps science, and science promotes artificial intelligence; Precision Chemistry and Intelligent Computing; explainable AI models; Big science devices powered by machine intelligence.

The conference lasted for two days.
