With at least 130 seats against sixty for the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), the opposition party won the Karnataka general elections hands down. Vasantha Kavitha, at the headquarters of the Congress Party in Bangalore, lets out her joy:

« We've been waiting for this moment for five years! We want to offer the people of Karnataka a government free of corruption. It's not just about winning, it's about delivering on the commitments we've made to the most disadvantaged. Karnataka should serve as an example for the rest of India. »

Free bus for women, electricity for all, support for the unemployed... During this campaign, the Congress party was able to speak to the popular electorate. The key to future victories for activist Jacob John:

« Hope is reborn for Congress. We must build on this dynamic for the election of the Prime Minister in 2024. There is an urgent need to respond to inflation. The price of fuel is skyrocketing as we buy cheap oil. The poorest are burdened by the Modi government's tax hikes. »

Despite multiple trips by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP has failed to convince. Karnataka's chief minister resigned on Saturday and called on his party to learn from the defeat.
