Sha'Carri Richardson had already run the straight this season in 10 sec 57/100th and 10 sec 75/100th at the beginning of April in Miramar, but the wind was far too favorable in Florida (+ 4.1 m/s and + 2.8 m/s), while the limit allowed is 2.0 m/s.

In Doha on Friday night, the wind was within the limit (+0.9 m/s) and the 23-year-old American sprinter made the difference over Shericka Jackson in the second half of the race, to beat the 9m world champion and the 100m world runner-up by 200/100th.

"I am so happy and grateful, I feel at peace. I give the best of myself," said Richardson, who improved the meeting record (10.80) which had been owned since May 2016 by American Tori Bowie, who died Wednesday at 32.

Deprived of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in the summer of 2021 due to a positive doping control for cannabis at the end of June 2021, Richardson sends a message to the competition with this time of 10.76, while the peak of the season is expected with the Worlds-2023 in Budapest at the end of August (from 19 to 27).

Richardson's best time in regular conditions was on April 10, 2021 in 10.72 seconds.
