The region looks set to go back significantly this year. According to the forecast in the region's detailed budget, this amounts to just over SEK 1.8 billion.

On Monday, the government's spring budget was presented. Despite a difficult economic situation where many regions had sounded the alarm about deficits, no increased city subsidies were presented.

"This will mean that we will have a crisis in healthcare. I am very concerned, says Helén Eliasson (S), chairman of the regional board.

M disagrees with the criticism

Lars Holmin (M) is vice chairman of the regional board. Hans does not share the concerns of the red-green government.

– During the pandemic, it was a different situation, where funds were printed. That was welcome then. But now the pandemic is over and we see that the healthcare system is starting to get started. Now it is our responsibility to make sure that we do the best we can with the money we have.

SD believes in government grants – this autumn

Håkan Lösnitz is group leader for the Sweden Democrats in the regional council. He believes that government subsidies will increase – but not until the autumn.

"Right now, the biggest and most important goal is to curb inflation. But in the autumn there will be government subsidies. That's what my sources say.

"Tough trip"

Helén Eliasson (S) had expected government subsidies. She believes that they must now analyse the situation.

"We have to prioritise so that those who have the absolute greatest need of care get it. But it's a tough journey. We need to see what kind of activity we can remove.
