"The use by the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS of the national flag of Ukraine or its image along with the state symbols of other members of the IPA CIS is due to legal requirements, complies with the norms of international protocol and world practice," the statement said.

It is clarified that the location of the headquarters of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly on the territory of Russia does not affect the international obligations of the IPA and does not cancel them.

Earlier, RBC reported that in St. Petersburg, near the palace, where the next session of the assembly opened, the Ukrainian flag was torn off the flagpole.

On April 4, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow sentenced photographer Grigory Mumrikov, who was found guilty of aiding and abetting an attempt to hold a rally on Victory Day using smoke bombs in the colors of the flag of Ukraine, to one and a half years of forced labor.
