Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with President Lula of Brazil in Beijing on June 14 and shared the view that it is important to strengthen bilateral relations through economic cooperation and to engage in dialogue and negotiations regarding the ongoing military invasion by Russia.

According to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Xi emphasized that "China and Brazil are comprehensive strategic partners" and expressed his intention to strengthen bilateral relations through economic cooperation, including exploring the possibility of cooperation in fields such as agriculture, energy, and infrastructure construction.

In response, President Lula said, "Brazil will focus on developing even closer relations with China from the strategic perspective of promoting the establishment of a fair and rational international order."

Regarding the situation in Ukraine, where Russia's military aggression continues, the two leaders shared the view that dialogue and negotiations are important, stating that "all efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the crisis must be encouraged and supported."

For China, it seems that it aims to compete with the United States by strengthening cooperation with Brazil, which constitutes the five emerging countries = BRICS.
