Beijing, April 4 (ZXS) -- In response to individual WHO officials saying that the Chinese government's release of new crown virus data has not been open and transparent, which has affected the global new crown traceability research work, Zhou Lei, a researcher at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, responded in Beijing on the 8th that the place of discovery of the epidemic is not equal to the place of origin, and the traceability of the new crown virus should adhere to a scientific attitude.

On April 4, the Information Office of the State Council of China held a press conference in Beijing, where Shen Hongbing, deputy director of the National Disease Control Administration and director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Tong Yigang, dean and professor of the School of Life Sciences of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and Zhou Lei, researcher of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced the research on the traceability of the new crown in China and answered reporters' questions. On the same day, the Information Office of the State Council of China held a press conference on the research on the traceability of China's new crown. Zhou Lei said at the meeting that the joint expert working group at home and abroad jointly carried out traceability research in Wuhan, and Chinese scientists shared all the data and materials they had in accordance with the working principles of science, openness, objectivity and transparency, and the results were collectively recognized by experts.

"At that time, we also tested more than 2018,2020 poultry and livestock samples and more than 38000,41000 wildlife samples collected in China from <> to <> for antibodies or nucleic acid, and none of them were found to be positive for the new coronavirus. We also conducted a retrospective investigation of the upstream and downstream supply chains of all animal products at the Huanan Seafood Market at that time, and found no evidence of the virus spreading among animals. These findings were shared with a team of international experts selected by WHO and were all accepted. Zhou Lei said.

Zhou Lei also said that in the first phase of the joint traceability study, the Chinese side considered the possibility of laboratory leakage at the design stage, organized a joint expert team to investigate and study a number of laboratories in Wuhan, and investigated and analyzed the health monitoring data and clinical data of all laboratory staff. "We fully share the findings and data without any concealment or reservation."

Zhou Lei said that the research results of a variety of disease traceability show that the place where the epidemic was found is not equal to the place of origin of the epidemic, so virus tracing should still adhere to a scientific attitude. "More importantly, for the traceability of the new crown virus, it really needs scientists from all over the world to study together, and fully and objectively uphold a scientific attitude to carry out research work together."

Shen Hongbing, director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, also introduced at the meeting that on the basis of the huge human, material and financial resources invested in the first phase of joint research, China has not stopped tracing the origin of the new coronavirus, and still coordinates resources to continue to carry out comprehensive scientific investigation and research in the fields of epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, animal and environment, and even laboratory tests. Or by publishing articles and sharing with the international scientific community, numerous research findings have further confirmed the results of the first phase of joint research.

"We hope to uphold a scientific attitude, strengthen exchanges and cooperation and information sharing, and carry out the work of tracing the origin of the new coronavirus on a scientific track." Some forces and figures who instigate and participate in politicizing the issue of traceability and trying to smear China should not think that the eyes of the world's scientific community will be blinded by their clumsy manipulation. We advise relevant WHO personnel to return to a scientific and impartial position, and not to take the initiative or be forced to become a tool for individual countries to politicize the origin of the new crown virus. Shen Hongbing said. (End)
