Mali: the constitutional referendum is postponed

In Mali, the constitutional referendum scheduled for March 19 is postponed.
This is a "slight postponement" specifies the spokesperson for the transitional government who announced it this Friday, March 10.
It is not yet known when the ballot will be held, but the government assures that the date for the end of the transition, set for February 2024, in just under a year, will be respected.

This postponement is justified by the firm will of the authorities of the transition to apply the recommendations of the national foundations of the refoundation, in particular the full operationalization of the independent authority of management of the elections through the installation of these dismemberments in the most as soon as possible as well as the popularization of the draft Constitution
", declared Colonel Abdoulaye Maïga, government spokesman.

The new date of the referendum will be fixed after consultation with the independent electoral management authority and all the actors in the electoral process

The government reassures national and international opinion that the return to constitutional order after having carried out the necessary reforms remains one of its absolute priorities and of course, the deadline remains the date that we have in any case been able to negotiate with
