“We remain ready to hold a meeting of the bilateral commission to discuss the concerns of the United States and Russia on START, as well as all other issues related to its implementation,” Ned Price, the head of the press service of the US State Department, quoted TASS as saying.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow was suspending its participation in the New START Treaty.

He noted that a situation in which the US military is at Russian nuclear facilities, while the US is fueling a further escalation of the Ukrainian conflict, is simply impossible.

In turn, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia and the United States are discussing START through closed channels.
